The Hartford History Center is operating out of the Ropkins Library during repairs and renovations to the Downtown Library.

Research Requests

Hartford History Center staff provides research assistance to those who make onsite visits to the Hartford Public Library’s Hartford History Center (HHC). Staff may also provide remote service (via phone, email or other means) to those unable to visit in-person.

Remote research questions that can be answered quickly, within a maximum of 30 minutes, and are limited in scope, will be handled free of charge. If Hartford History Center staff determine that the research question requires more time, a $45 per hour research fee may be assessed at the discretion of HHC staff. HHC staff reserve the right to limit the total number of research hours per request and per researcher for both onsite and remote research requests.

All researchers who request research assistance beyond a basic level of recall or guidance from HHC staff will be asked to contact the Hartford History Center to schedule appointments.
